About ExtraMD
ExtraMD was started by Marica Pook, MD after she saw a need to help over worked and overwhelmed physicians. While working as a hospitalist, she would call physicians to give follow up, and was amazed by how little coverage they had for days off, illness, and busy days.
Over the last year ExtraMD has grown to include eight physicians that fill in during planned and unplanned absences, as well as when practices are busy.
It is ExtraMD’s belief that “extra” physicians help get patients seen quickly and keep them healthier and happier because they get seen sooner.
Additionally ExtraMD helps prevent physician burnout and stress by allowing physicians to go on well earned vacations, or to stay home when they are sick. We believe that physicians need to take care of themselves, and need to take time off knowing their practice is thriving, even while they are on military service or maternity leave.
ExtraMD strives to keep our clients’ revenues strong and even increase practices’ revenue stream.
ExtraMD’s values include integrity, service, FUN and personal and professional fulfillment. We feel we can return medicine to the fulfilling profession it once was by helping care for patients and allowing physicians to seek necessary and rejuvenating time off.
